IDEC will have a growing presence at NeoCon 2007 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, June 11-13, 2007. Besides several of our members who will be presenting Individual workshops, there will be an Association Forum offered by IDEC on "How to get into the CEU Business." The Carole Price-Shanis Scholarship is offered to provide support for the purpose of returning to school to advance your interior design education. $3000 total will be available for up to two scholarships. All applications must be postmarked on or before January 15, 2007 (Faxes and electronic submissions are not permitted). Up to ten (10) graduate students who desire to become interior design educators will be given a scholarship for $1000 each to help with funding to the 2007 IDEC Annual Conference. Submissions must be post marked by November 15, 2006. For Eligibility requirements, applications, and selection criteria click on the following link or cut and past it into your search engine.

Two new classifications of membership have now been approved by the voting members. The new classifications include Educator Affiliate Membership & Industry Affiliate Membership. The Industry Affiliate Membership allows for industry allies interested in interior design education and the activities of IDEC. The Educator Affiliate Membership is for part-time faculty/instructors teaching in interior design or interior design related disciplines. More details about each of these categories can be found at http://www.idec.org/membership/becomeMember.html.

The first ten (10) members who recruit one or more new paying affiliate member will receive a candy bar from the Executive Director..... your choice!! Just have the new member put your name in the "referred by" box on the application.
  
  

The IDEC Social Justice Network is a brand-new informal gathering of educators interested in issues of equity and respect for human beings and the world environment we inhabit. Thus far, our fledgling group is five persons strong and growing! If you’re interested in learning what others are researching and teaching on topics such as human disabilities, homelessness, social services and other related interior design areas come and join us. To become a part of the SJ Listserve, send an email to Idecsjn-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You may also send an email to Jill Pable, network chair, at jpable@fsu.edu. You will be enrolled in the IDEC Social Justice Network listserve, our venue for information exchange and idea generation. It’s a great way to get warmed up for next year’s international conference theme of social justice!
