IDEC's mission is the advancement of interior design education and scholarship.
Advancement: to promote recognition of the contribution
of interior design education, scholarship, and practice to the advancement
of quality of life within the built environment.
Education: to promote development of individuals to be
creative, think critically, resolve issues, base decisions on sound foundations
of theory and research, communicate effectively, and uphold high ethical
and business standards.
Scholarship: to expand the body of knowledge as defined
of interior environments, quality of life, and human performance.
The Policy and Procedures Manual and Bylaws of the Interior Design Educator’s
Council (IDEC) have been developed as a working document to facilitate
the mission of IDEC, describe the activities of the organization, and
support the bylaws. It is the responsibility of every IDEC member in a
position of leadership to be knowledgeable of the contents of this guide
to ensure the smooth operations of IDEC Boards, committees, and networks,
and to serve the membership effectively.
