Jane Kucko, PhD,F IDEC, President
Texas Christian University

Jane Kucko is an associate professor of interior design at Texas Christian University and also serves as the Director for International Studies: TCU Abroad. She was formerly the chair of the Department of Design, Merchandising, and Textiles at TCU and has served in various leadership roles for IDEC including Southwest Regional Chair, Membership Services Director, and Chair for the Interior Design Continuing Education Council. She became a fellow of IDEC in 2003. Originally from Nebraska, she has an undergraduate degree from University Nebraska-Lincoln, her Masters of Interior Design from Oklahoma State University, and her Ph.D. in Fashion and Textiles from Texas Woman’s University. Her scholarly interests include international education and the history of quilt making consisting of oral interviews with North Texas quilt makers.

Eric Wiedegreen,IDEC, IIDA, Past-President
Florida State University

Eric Wiedegreen is a professor and chair of the Department of Interior Design at Florida State University. He has also had leadership and teaching positions at the International Academy of Design and Technology-Chicago, Virginia Tech and the University of Florida. He has served IDEC in the past as a Director–at-Large, South Regional Chair, regional conference coordinator and network chair, and has won numerous IDEC Design Competition awards and Best Poster awards. He is also a charter member of IIDA and an allied member of ASID. He holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Florida.

John Turpin, MS, IDEC, President-elect
Washington State University - Spokane

JOHN TURPIN is an associate professor and program coordinator of the Department of Interior Design at Washington State University. He has served IDEC as Regional Chair Representation to the Board of Directors, Pacific West Regional Chair, regional conference coordinator and network chair. He serves on the Board of Reviewers for the Journal of Interior Design and is a member of CIDA's Evaluation Committee. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD at Arizona State University in Design History, Theory and Criticism.

Shari Park-Gates, PhD, IDEC, Director of Communications and Membership
West Virginia University

Shari Park-Gates, PhD, is an associate professor in the Interior Design Program at West Virginia University. She has over twenty years of experience in the practice of commercial interior design with an emphasis on the work environment. She is also NCIDQ certified and a professional member of ASID. Her practice experience includes working for architectural firms, dealerships, consulting and as president of her own design firm. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, Interior Design and is nine hours away from a degree in Fine Art. She has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Charleston and a PhD in Interior Design from Virginia Tech. She has served IDEC as the South Regional Chair and the 2005 student competition coordinator.

Lynn Chalmers, IDEC, Secretary/Treasurer

Associate Professor Lynn Chalmers studied Interior Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Australia. She practiced as a designer, working in corporate design for 15 years. She took up a teaching position at the University of South Australia, completed her Master's in Design and headed the Interior Design Program at the Louis Laybourne School of Architecture and Design, University of South Australia from 1995 - 99. She moved, with her two children to Canada in1999 to take up the position as Chair of Department of Interior Design at the University of Manitoba, undergraduate and graduate programs. Lynn is currently undertaking her PhD in Communications and Culture at Ryerson University.

Her teaching focus is Masters Design Studio and Graduate Seminar.

She has presented papers and chaired panels and workshops at IDEC Conferences since joining in 1999,as well as serving as network chair. Her research interests are in developing the discipline of interior design through theory and discourse, and critical theory in relation to the office environment.

Brian Powell, IDEC, Regional Chair Representative

Brian Powell is an associate professor and Interior Design program coordinator at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, a CIDA accredited program. He has served as IDEC as Southwest Regional Chair, and author of the 2006 annual Student Design Competition. Brian is NCIDQ certified and practiced retail interior design prior to teaching. He received his undergraduate degree in from Louisiana State University and a graduate degree in interior design from Louisiana Tech University. As a professional IIDA member he served as a City Center Director and as president of the Delta Regional Chapter.

 

David Harrison, IDEC, ASID, Director for Development and Projects
Boston Architectural Center

Dave Harrison is the Program Director for the Bachelor of Interior Design and the Master of Interior Design programs at the Boston Architectural Center, both of which are accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. He studied at Pratt and received his Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida and his Master of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University, has held teaching posts at Western Carolina University, Converse College, Washington State University, Appalachian State University, and Eastern Kentucky University, and he has been an active interior design practitioner for over twenty-five years. He is a professional member of both IIDA and ASID, and serves at Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of ASID New England.
