The Innovative Teaching Ideas manual was the creation of a dedicated group of design faculty and leaders in IDEC who saw the need to combine effort, as Nancy Canestero stated in the preface to the first manual, "to make our classroom preparation easier, eliminate the waste and frustration of experimentation, and introduce fresh ideas and innovative techniques in our classrooms." The manual is a resource for educators at all levels. Just as the research that we do expands the body of knowledge for the profession, the manual is intended to grow. Those of you who are familiar with the manual will note two new categories, Sustainable and Universal Design. The committee feels that these are areas of content that we are addressing in our programs that would be helpful to members of our organization.

The included submissions were selected using a double-blind review. Reviewers had a minimum of five years of teaching experience in the area that they reviewed. Now that the manual is formatted for inclusion on the IDEC web site, we will be sending out a call for submissions each fall using the listserve for distribution. If you have questions, or suggestions, please contact me.
