Membership Renewal Edition

Dear IDEC Member,
It is once again time to renew your IDEC membership.   As we prepare each of the renewal notices, it has occurred to me how effective IDEC has become at working on your behalf.  I am saddened that most members will not be able to realize in full, how much better off they are for being members of this great Council.  You can find a broader listing of IDEC member benefits on the website.

It is a real honor to sit in my place as the Executive Director of IDEC, and to see and hear about all of the work that is taking place to advance the mission of IDEC.  Huge strides are being made by leaders within the organization that significantly impact your individual professional development, the standards of interior design education, and the direction of the interior design profession.

Your IDEC Board of Directors has approved the addition of a staff member to enhance membership marketing & communications.  As new and more effective communications come out of the IDEC office, it is our goal that you will indeed be affirmed anew in the coming days that you are experiencing real personal and corporate value by being a member of IDEC.

Membership renewal is open from now until January 9, 2009.   The normal electronic notices will be sent out at the same time you are receiving this eNews.  Please see the important renewal information below so that you are well informed as you engage with IDEC for another year.

Best wishes!
Jeffrey Beachum
Executive Director

Green Initiative in Action – Renew on line

Renew your membership online at www.idec.org.  Click on the “IDEC Member Center” link from the home page, choose “Online Membership Renewal”. You will need your ID # to complete this process.   Your ID# can be found in a renewal notice that is being emailed to you separately.  We hope you will find this “green” method quick, convenient and satisfying.

If you are unable to renew online, payment can still be paid by check or credit card and sent with the renewal form that will be following in a separate email.

After two electronic notices for membership renewal, you will be mailed a hard copy of your notice via the US Postal Service.  We will make every attempt to avoid this mailing if you renew before December 5, 2008.

Update Your Membership Information

Updates to your individual record can be made online or directly on the paper renewal form arriving in a separate email. Please review and update your record electronically at  www.idec.org, click on“IDEC Member Center” then “Online Directory”.

Please verify your membership type listed on your invoice.  Please contact Jenni Vincent if it needs to be changed.

Opportunities to Participate as a Leader of IDEC

As a member of IDEC we hope that you will become active in YOUR association by joining in the leadership of committees, workgroups, and networks.  Please register your interest in serving in IDEC by taking the Membership Involvement Survey.  After you login, click on the Membership Involvement Survey and complete the form.

Institutional Membership

The IDEC membership recently approved provisions for an Institutional membership that will allow an institution to financially benefit by sponsoring multiple memberships from one Institution at an affordable rate.  This program will be rolled out in the Spring of 2009.  However, if your institution would prefer to be billed directly right now for IDEC membership, please contact Jenni Vincent and you will be provided with an appropriate invoice.  In this case, membership rates remain the same but we will bill your institution instead of you individually.

Journal of Interior Design

Embracing IDEC's Green Initiative
You will find via online renewal and on the paper dues notice that you will have an opportunity to receive one more year's worth of hard copies of the JID.  Beginning Fall of 2009, The Journal of Interior Design will only be accessed on line.

Support YOUR Foundation

Please note on your renewal form the opportunity to donate to the IDEC Foundation.  You can also donate online at http://www.idec.org/who/foundation.php.

Graduate Student Membership to IDEC

If you are a graduate student you must submit a letter signed by a university advisor confirming your enrollment as a graduate student.  This letter must be submitted by mail before January 9, 2009 in order to retain your graduate student IDEC membership status.

Renewal Extension

Please note IDEC will extend renewal between January 10th and February 6th .  However, renewal during the extension period will incur a late fee of $25.  Any member that does not pay after February 7th will be terminated as a member of IDEC.
