NCIDQ Releases Information about 2010 Exam Modifications

NCIDQ is modifying its Examination in 2010, and has released information about the changes.

NCIDQ News for IDEC Members

Nearly seven years ago, NCIDQ demonstrated its commitment to having NCIDQ Certificate holders in college classrooms by allowing IDEC members who met eligibility requirements to register for the examination for free. Many of you have taken advantage of this incentive and are now part of an elite group of interior designers who hold this credential. We hope IDEC members will continue to tell students about the importance of a career path that includes formal education followed by experience, followed by the NCIDQ Examination (and state or provincial licensure, where required).

Beginning next year, NCIDQ will make some minor changes to the IDEC incentive. IDEC members have always been required to meet the same standards for eligibility and pay the same application review fee as any other exam candidate, and that will not change. IDEC members will still be required to take all three sections in the first attempt. However, effective June 1, 2010, IDEC members who wish to register at no cost must take the examination in the first administration after their application is approved. These candidates may defer their registration to a later date or cancel it, but will not be eligible for the fee waiver if they do so. If an IDEC member does not pass a section, the member must pay the registration fees in effect at the time of the retake.

If you are interested in applying to take the NCIDQ Examination, the next deadline is December 1, 2009 for all application materials and payments. We always encourage applicants to submit their information as early as possible to ensure that we have all the items needed to review their application. The Spring 2010 exam will be given April 9-10 at more than 60 locations in the United States and Canada. To learn more about the NCIDQ Examination visit us online at www.ncidq.org.

As a reminder, one way that IDEC members can equip their students with all the information they need on their path to success is by participating in NCIDQ's free Webinar, "Your Journey to Professionalism." This Webinar is also available in an on-demand basis for individual educators who wish to have it scheduled for one of their classes.
